Spawn!

March 16, 2015

Took three spawn from ‘not-so-much’ to ‘pretty much done’ in just a couple of days. Matte varnish still to come. At some later date, I will be doing the white glue + Tamiya red thing to have them sloshing around in rivers of blood. They’re supposed to represent either cultists ‘blessed’ with Spawnhood or failed Warpsmith experiments (using cultists as guinea pigs).

The conversion work on my Daemon Princess is done:

I plan for her to be metal(ish) and for the chaos icon on the ground to be glowy. It will be my first attempt at some lighting effects. /shrug Wish me luck.

In order to flesh out my Noise Marines, I decided it was time to get a model that could serve as a Bloodthirster (if summoned), or a Daemon of Slaanesh if my Chaos Lord is ever lucky enough to get that result on the Boon table.

In my research of other conversions, I was incredibly impressed by this model, by cyborgakadjmoose

Daemon Prince of Khorne converted from Ultraforge’s Pleasure Demon.

I don’t plan to put any of Khorne’s iconography on my model. I do plan to convert her weapons (am contemplating making it so they can be changed out) to properly reflect those of a Bloodthirster (double-headed axe and whip).

Thus far (still very much planning and very glad I have blue-tac):

Thanks for looking! 🙂

IA13 has me excited about finishing up my Noise Marines, the “Iron Horse Warband”. I plan to add a Chaos Fire Raptor and a Chaos Sicaran. To call the list complete (I plan to take it to the 1500 point Highlander at AdeptiCon in March of 2015), I need to build and paint a unit of Iron Horses to accompany the lord, and finish painting two units of Noise Marines and a Heldrake.

The Chaos Lord’s mail remains to be painted, and there are details to add to the powerpack and the Iron Horse:

Come on feel the noise!

I’ve been taking swings at some of the big boys lately (working on a write up of a recent tournament game vs. a Transcendent C’Tan). This video battle report features my Eldar vs a Brass Scorpion. Can we tame that beast?

Heldrake

Done (as in, “I’m done working on it”):

I know, it's not really done until it's based. I'll get around to it.

And underneath:

That leaves 2 units of Noise Marines with Sonic Blasters and Blast Masters, 1 Unit of Havocs with LasCannons, 1 Chaos Lord on an Iron Horse, 1 Chaos Sorcerer, and 1 (more) Heldrake to paint. At this rate I’ll finish in 2021.

Making progress on the first of two Heldrakes for my Noise Marines:

The underside is untouched (still basecoat) and the front/rear ‘legs’ need some more work. Everything needs highlights. I don’t plan to do much, just a touch here and there. Another view:
